This Spanish 1 course is designed to provide one full high school foreign language credit. Using the BJU Press Spanish 1 textbook (3rd Edition), students learn the fundamentals of Latin American Spanish, including greetings, verb conjugations, vocabulary, pronunciation, and grammatical structures.
The course expands students’ horizons through cultural and historical highlights, offering insights into the Spanish-speaking world as a mission field. Emphasis is placed on developing beginning reading and conversational abilities, focusing on understanding and practical application rather than rote memorization.
Students should have a basic understanding of English grammar, preferably through the seventh grade, before starting this course. New vocabulary and grammar concepts are introduced weekly to steadily build language skills.
