It is designed for students who have completed Pre-Algebra and Physical Science, and are ready for a college-prep, lab-based science course. One high school credit is awarded upon completion.
The Home & Group version includes the student workbook from One Day Academy’s Biology 1 course and a leader guide to support once-a-week group instruction led by a parent or tutor. Students complete assigned reading and home preparation throughout the week.
Course content includes:
- Microscope skills and biological keys
- Scientific classification and kingdoms
- Chemistry of life and cytology
- Genetics and cell structure
- Ecology and evolution/creation
- Botany and animal biology
Students may dissect specimens such as a clam, crayfish, frog, grasshopper, perch, earthworm, flowers, and a sheep eye depending on the group’s resources. Labs are preceded by PowerPoint-based lectures and reinforced through hands-on experiments. Lab safety and technique are strongly emphasized.
Parental responsibilities include supervising module tests (taken at home), helping students stay on pace, and assisting with required science project planning and completion. Teachers or leaders will grade lab work, exams, and final projects.

This course is a college-prep biology course that provides a strong background in scientific classification and terminology.
Content covered: microscope skills, biological keys, biological kingdoms, chemistry of life, cytology, genetics, creation/evolution, ecology, botany, and animals. Students may dissect a clam, grasshopper, perch, earthworm, crayfish, frog, flowers, and a mammalian sheep eye as determined by the instructor.
Labs will include a PowerPoint lecture over material covered at home prior to class. Students perform hands-on experiments. Safety protocol and best lab practices will be emphasized.
