This course introduces high school students to journalistic writing and the broader news media and communications fields. Students learn reporting, interviewing, article writing, editing, copywriting, and photography focused on content and story coverage.

The curriculum covers the history of journalism, Christian ethics in media, editorial management, opinion writing, and an overview of broadcast journalism, social media, and public relations.

  • Students contribute to ODA Insight, One Day Academy’s online blog, completing assigned reporting, writing, and photography as homework. Weekly progress and drafts are graded for effort, quality, and timeliness. This course emphasizes meeting deadlines and producing polished articles from start to finish.
