Spanish 1 – Online Course Supplement (Ages 14–18)
This online course supplement supports high school students in completing one full foreign language credit in Spanish. Designed with a focus on Latin American Spanish, the course introduces foundational vocabulary, grammar, and pronunciation while also exploring the culture and mission opportunities within the Spanish-speaking world.
Students will learn:
- Basic greetings and conversational phrases
- Verb conjugations and grammar structures
- Vocabulary for everyday use
- Cultural and historical highlights of Latin America
- Spanish as a tool for missions and outreach
Instruction emphasizes practical use and understanding over rote memorization. New grammar and vocabulary are introduced weekly, with assignments including memory work, written exercises, online activities, quizzes, and tests. Students are expected to complete approximately 3–3½ hours of work per week outside of the 75-minute class session.
A basic understanding of English grammar (at least through 7th grade) is recommended before beginning the course. Daily practice and active participation are essential for success.
