Wildlife and Aquatic Science (Grades 7–12)
Designed for mature students aged 12 to 17, this engaging science course offers hands-on learning both in the lab and outdoors. Students will explore the diverse ecoregions of Texas, aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems, water quality, conservation practices, and local wildlife including plants, fish, amphibians, birds, mammals, and invertebrates.
The class emphasizes practical skills such as field note-taking, data graphing, and ecological observation. Outdoor activities and field excursions are integral to the curriculum, with at least one major outing planned each semester to deepen experiential learning.
- Aligned with Texas Education Agency standards in Aquatic Science, Environmental Systems, and Wildlife, Fisheries, and Ecology Management, this course prepares students for high school credit through comprehensive coursework and a major project.
