STEM Physics – Home & Group Curriculum (Grades 10–12)
STEM Physics is a mathematically rigorous course designed for high school students planning to pursue a degree in science, engineering, or a related math-intensive field. The course includes lecture and lab components and provides thorough preparation for both algebra-based and calculus-based university physics.
The Home & Group version includes student materials from One Day Academy’s STEM Physics class, plus a leader guide to support weekly group instruction led by a parent or tutor. Students complete labs and assignments throughout the week at home under parental supervision.
This course explores three primary branches of physics:
- Mechanical physics (motion, forces, energy)
- Optical physics (light, reflection, refraction)
- Electrical physics (circuits, current, magnetism)
Students apply Algebra 2-level math throughout the course and will build skills in solving quantitative problems, conducting experiments, and drawing conclusions from data.
- Parental responsibilities include supporting students in completing assigned labs and homework, overseeing weekly pacing, and helping students stay prepared for weekly group instruction. This course is ideal for co-ops or small groups seeking a strong STEM curriculum that mirrors college-level expectations.
