Economics & Personal Finance – Home & Group Curriculum (Ages 14-18)
This full-year high school course provides students with a half credit in Economics and a half credit in Personal Finance. The Home and Group version includes student materials plus a leader guide to support parents or tutors in leading weekly group instruction.
As with all our Home and Group sets, this curriculum is designed to be taught once a week in a co-op or group setting, with students completing the rest of their work at home under a parent’s supervision. This matches the One Day Academy model and supports consistent progress between group lessons.
The first semester covers the fundamentals of economics including supply and demand, inflation, business structure, types of economies, micro- and macroeconomics, and the stock market. Instruction is rooted in a Biblical worldview while focusing on real-world understanding and use.
The second semester focuses on personal finance using concepts inspired by Dave Ramsey. Students learn how to budget, manage credit and debt, understand insurance and taxes, and explore investment strategies. This course is practical, hands-on, and designed to help students manage money wisely with a Biblical perspective.
This set includes a loose leaf Student Supplement and a spiral bound Leader Guide..

The second semester covers Personal Finance incorporating Dave Ramsey’s tips on money management for high schoolers. This portion is very practical with students learning to budget, comprehending investment strategies and how to apply them, understanding credit, debt, insurance, income taxes and more. This semester will contain lots of practical application and will continue with an emphasis on managing money from a Biblical perspective.
The curricula combines outside reading, classroom instruction, presentations, as well as hands on problems and activities to learn the concepts presented in a variety of ways. Students should plan to spend 2-3 hours a week outside of class in preparation.
