Middle School English One Leader Guide 2023-2024 Edition

This class emphasizes focused grammar study to unify and strengthen students’ grammatical skills built during elementary years, preparing them for confident writing in later middle and high school.

Course components include:

  • Grammar: Using Easy Grammar 6 as the main text, lessons are taught in class with homework to reinforce skills. By year-end, students will identify all parts of a sentence.
  • Writing: Students review sentence and paragraph structure, completing bi-weekly compositions with opportunities for feedback and revision.
  • Vocabulary & Spelling: Weekly vocabulary charts introduce prefixes, suffixes, and words that integrate into writing assignments.

Parental Responsibilities:

  • Parents grade assignments with answer keys (spelling, vocabulary, grammar) and record grades on a grade sheet submitted to the teacher. Teachers grade compositions, exams, and provide final grades.
