Digital Photography Imaging & Design (Ages 13–18)
This creative, hands-on course is designed for students ages 13–18 who want to develop their photography skills while exploring the principles of visual storytelling and digital editing. Whether your student dreams of taking professional photos or simply wants to grow in artistic expression, this course provides a solid foundation in the art and science of digital photography.
Students will study photographic composition using concepts such as the rule of thirds, lighting, contrast, mood, perspective, texture, and exposure. Weekly “shooting assignments” give students the opportunity to apply what they learn in real-world scenarios and refine their creative eye.
They will also explore the Principles and Elements of Design, including leading lines, space, and balance, while learning to craft compelling images. Each student will maintain a Process Journal Photo Album, showcasing their best photos along with written reflections and critiques of their work to better understand their growth and artistic development.
In addition, students will:
- Study the work of master photographers to inspire their personal style.
- Learn to edit and enhance their images using digital tools.
- Practice visual storytelling through themed photo shoots.
- Discover how to see the world—and themselves—through a creative, God-honoring lens.
- With a strong emphasis on creativity and thoughtful design, this course helps students build confidence in their technical skills while nurturing an appreciation for the beauty of God’s creation.
