Spanish 1 – Ages 14 to 18

This supplement is designed to accompany the Spanish 1 course, providing additional practice and enrichment to strengthen students’ mastery of the fundamentals of Latin American Spanish. It supports the full high school foreign language credit by reinforcing core language skills such as greetings, verb conjugation, vocabulary, pronunciation, and grammar.
The supplement deepens students’ understanding of Spanish through cultural and historical insights, broadening their perspective of the Spanish-speaking world, including its significance as a mission field. Students will continue to develop beginner-level reading and conversational abilities with a focus on practical application and comprehension over rote memorization.
Students should have a basic understanding of English grammar, ideally through the seventh grade, before beginning this supplement. As with the main course, new vocabulary and grammar concepts are introduced weekly to support steady progress.
