Elementary History and Geography 4/5 (Ages 9–11)
This upper elementary course invites students to explore the world God has created through the lens of world history and geography. Designed for ages 9–11, the course provides a hands-on, engaging introduction to both physical geography and major events in global history.
Students will build geography skills by learning to identify continents and oceans, read map keys and symbols, understand compass directions, and recognize physical features like mountains, rivers, and climate zones. They will also explore the uniqueness of each continent, examining landforms, landmarks, flags, and fun cultural facts.
History lessons focus on God’s overarching plan through human history, highlighting key people and events from ancient civilizations such as Egypt and Greece, through the medieval era of knights and castles, and into modern times, including the World Wars.
Class time is interactive and project-based, and students will complete weekly homework assignments, map and content quizzes, and a project each semester.
- This course offers a well-rounded foundation in both geography and history, preparing students for future social studies learning while fostering wonder and a Biblical worldview of the world.
