Middle School Literature 2023-2024 Edition (Ages 12–14)
This course invites students to explore and enjoy classic literature across multiple genres including fiction, fantasy, biography, short stories, poetry, and drama.
Students will learn to uncover deeper significance in each story by examining historical context and applying lessons to modern culture and Biblical principles. Literary analysis, guided discussions, creative writing, historical study, and engaging activities support a well-rounded learning experience.
Parental Responsibilities:
Parents should purchase the course workbook and all reading titles (print preferred) before the year begins. While library copies are allowed, students must bring both the workbook and the current reading book to class weekly. Parents are encouraged to help students pace their reading and meet assignment deadlines.
Prerequisites:
- Middle School English 1 or 2, with competency in independent reading and ability to participate in discussions and write short essays.
