Current Events from a Christian Worldview (Ages 14–18)
This engaging course equips high school students to understand and evaluate today’s news and world events through the lens of Scripture. Designed for ages 14–18, the course challenges students to move beyond passive consumption of media and develop the tools needed for thoughtful, truth-centered engagement with current events.
Grounded in a Biblical worldview, students will examine the reliability of news sources, recognize media bias, and assess the truthfulness of the information they encounter. Weekly topics connect unfolding news stories with deeper questions about truth, justice, leadership, global trends, and cultural values.
Through guided research, in-depth analysis, and lively classroom discussions and debates, students will:
- Track and discuss current headlines from multiple perspectives
- Identify bias and differentiate between credible and unreliable sources
- Explore the root causes and global impact of major issues
- Deliver PowerPoint presentations to synthesize their findings
- Build confidence in public speaking and civil discourse
Students are expected to stay informed by reading or watching news at least three times a week. Homework includes research, reading, and preparing for presentations and discussions (2–4 hours per week).
- This course is ideal for Christian families seeking to equip their teens to be discerning, articulate, and informed citizens who think critically and engage culture with Biblical wisdom.
