Purpose: The purpose of this class is to build on the basic building blocks of our written language so that they may independently enjoy reading and writing. Specifically, we will:
- Review the 70 basic phonograms that make up all words
- Practice neat penmanship by practicing writing sounds and words
- Instruct in the use of phonogram knowledge to sound out and read words
- Build skills sounding and spelling words to reinforce fluent reading of words
- Phonics 2 Course Workbook, by Sarah Hulsey (for use at home)
- 1 set of Spalding Phonogram Cards
- Access to plenty of age and level appropriate books for nightly reading
