Middle School English 2 – Home & Group Curriculum (Grades 5–6)
This curriculum is ideal for students working at approximately a 6th grade level. The Home and Group version includes student materials plus a leader guide for once-a-week group instruction, modeled after the One Day Academy format. Students complete the rest of the week’s assignments at home under parent supervision.
The course focuses on building strong grammar skills using Easy Grammar 6, reinforcing sentence structure, punctuation, and parts of speech. Students will also work on developing their writing skills through bi-weekly composition assignments, including personal and creative writing, descriptive paragraphs, and structured responses. Vocabulary and spelling instruction is integrated weekly using root-based word lists and writing reinforcement.
Parents are responsible for grading work that includes an answer key (such as vocabulary, spelling, and grammar practice), while instructors grade compositions and exams. The leader guide provides weekly teaching tips, assignment pacing, and clear guidelines for collaboration between parent and group leader.
