General Science – Grades 6–8
This engaging, hands-on course is designed to spark curiosity about God’s design and the natural world. Intended for students ages 11–13 (typically 7th grade), General Science introduces foundational concepts in physical, earth, and life sciences while emphasizing scientific thinking and lab skills.
Topics include:
- The scientific method, variables, and scientific analysis
- Earth science, astronomy, meteorology, and oceanography
- Chemistry, physics, and environmental science
- Life science, general biology, and simple machines
- Biblical perspectives on creation
Each unit includes a PowerPoint-based lecture, hands-on labs, and guided note-taking in the course supplement. Students are expected to complete readings and prepare for class at home. Quizzes and exams are determined by the instructor, while module tests are completed at home under parent supervision.
Students will also complete a required science project, helping them apply the inquiry method and presentation skills. Safety and proper lab practices are taught and reinforced throughout the year.
