Consumer Math (Grades 11–12)
This Consumer Math course equips high school students aged 16 to 18 with essential financial skills to confidently manage money and make wise financial decisions. Suitable for students who have completed Algebra 2 or alongside other math courses, this class focuses on real-world applications without heavy math homework.
Students will learn practical topics including buying and financing a car, understanding credit card charges, calculating taxes and interest on loans and savings, personal banking, and budgeting for everyday expenses such as transportation, food, clothing, and utilities. The course also covers insurance basics, filing income tax forms, planning vacations, and starting a small business.
- A primary emphasis of the course is on being a good steward of the Lord’s money, integrating biblical principles with practical financial literacy to help students develop responsible money management skills for life.
