Algebra 1 (Ages 12–14)


This Algebra 1 course is the first of Saxon’s two-course sequence, integrating geometry into the algebra curriculum to help students progress toward calculus before graduation. Designed for students ages 12 to 14, it covers a wide range of topics including linear, radical, quadratic, rational, and exponential equations and functions.

Additional topics include polynomials, factoring, systems of equations, rates, surface area and volume, ratios and proportions, scientific notation, an introduction to statistics, and the Pythagorean theorem.

  • Students may supplement this course with a Geometry proofs class during the summer or choose a year-long traditional Geometry course to deepen their understanding.
