Students will explore a variety of artistic mediums, including pencils, charcoal, conte’, ink, washes, watercolor, acrylics, and oils. This course builds a strong foundation in both drawing and beginning painting techniques, with special attention given to studying human features and form.
The class incorporates hands-on projects inspired by the work of famous master artists, both historical and contemporary, fostering creativity and a deeper understanding of art concepts. Students will also learn practical skills such as displaying, framing, and matting their artwork.
Time permitting, the class will enjoy a field trip to the Blanton Art Museum at the University of Texas campus. Additionally, guest artists will visit to share techniques and insights, enriching the students' appreciation and knowledge of art throughout the year.
