STEM Physics - Grades 10–12
STEM Physics is an advanced, mathematically rigorous course designed for high school students planning to pursue college degrees in math, science, engineering, or related fields. This course provides a strong foundation in physics concepts and problem-solving skills, thoroughly preparing students for university-level physics courses, whether algebra-based or calculus-based.
The curriculum covers three primary branches of physics: mechanical (motion, forces, energy), optical (light and optics), and electrical (electricity and magnetism). Students will engage in both lecture and hands-on laboratory work, allowing them to explore theoretical principles as well as practical applications.
Emphasis is placed on developing critical thinking, analytical reasoning, and quantitative skills. Throughout the year, students will solve complex problems, perform experiments, and learn to apply mathematical methods to physical phenomena. This course builds confidence and competence in physics, setting students up for success in higher education STEM programs.
Prerequisite: Completion of Algebra 2 or equivalent mathematical background is required to fully engage with the course material.
- Ideal for motivated students ages 15–18 who are ready to challenge themselves and gain a deep understanding of physics.
