Middle School American History (Notgrass) – Grades 6–8
As Martin Luther King, Jr. said, “We are not makers of history. We are made by history.” This engaging course explores the unique story of America, shaped by its people, events, geography, and institutions.
Students will journey from the time before European exploration through the end of the twentieth century, encountering fascinating people and transformative moments along the way. Emphasizing project-based learning, the course uses a rich variety of primary sources—from songs and poems to the Declaration of Independence and journal entries by presidents and explorers.
From Revolutionary War heroes to the Atomic Age and beyond, students will discover the evolving story of the United States. The course also includes a review of basic American geography, including states and capitals, to build a strong foundation in the land’s physical and cultural landscape.
Ideal for students ages 11–14, this curriculum encourages active exploration and critical thinking about America’s past and how it shapes who we are today.
This is a loose leaf book. You will want a 2" binder to store it in.
